Grades matter, and this is where a cheap container gets expensive. Cargo-worthy is the grade we check wind and watertight before it leaves the depot. As-is units are cheaper again and are not sold watertight — they may carry a patched repair, a soft spot in the floor or a door seal that no longer seats, and we will tell you exactly what is wrong with one before you buy it. New single-trip units are sealed and unmarked. If a container has to keep rain off what is inside it, buy cargo-worthy or better.
Most of what heads for Toowoomba ends up as grain, feed and chemical storage across the Downs country west of town, machinery and parts storage on the farms, site storage on the estates at Highfields, Glenvale and Kearneys Spring, trade storage through the industrial land at Wilsonton and Charlton, and dry storage for the freight and logistics operators working the inland rail and Wellcamp corridor.
The distance from Brisbane to Toowoomba is not large, but it is not flat, and a loaded truck climbing the range costs more to run than the same truck covering the same kilometres on the coastal plain. A Toowoomba delivery generally sits in the second band rather than the metro one, and it is quoted against your actual address rather than the town.

Toowoomba gets genuinely cold, and a steel box in a cold climate sweats. Warm, moist air inside meets a steel roof that has dropped below dew point overnight and condensation forms on the inside of the ceiling, then drips. People report it as a leak and it very often is not.
There are three practical fixes and they are cheap. Fit vents so air moves. Keep the contents off the floor on pallets or racking. If it is holding anything that seriously minds moisture, line and insulate the roof — and if you are going to line it, buy the high cube, because you lose 50 to 75mm of headroom to the lining. None of that is a reason to buy a dearer grade; it is a reason to set the container up properly.
Once you are on the Downs, delivery is generally straightforward — flat country, long drives, room to turn and ground that carries a truck well outside the wet. The exception is the older parts of town. East Toowoomba, Newtown and the streets around the CBD have narrow frontages, single-width drives beside high-set houses, mature street trees and low services, and they behave much more like an inner-city delivery than a rural one. A crane truck is often the sensible call there. The other Toowoomba factor is the approach itself: the range crossing is a long climb and a long descent, and in fog or after heavy rain a run can be pushed back a day for good reasons.
