Grades matter, and this is where a cheap container gets expensive. Cargo-worthy is the grade we check wind and watertight before it leaves the depot. As-is units are cheaper again and are not sold watertight — they may carry a patched repair, a soft spot in the floor or a door seal that no longer seats, and we will tell you exactly what is wrong with one before you buy it. New single-trip units are sealed and unmarked. If a container has to keep rain off what is inside it, buy cargo-worthy or better.
Rockhampton enquiries usually turn out to be about feed, chemical and machinery storage on the cattle country out through the Capricornia, site and tool storage for the mining and services operators running out to the Bowen Basin, dry storage on the properties west towards Emerald and Blackwater, secure storage at the industrial addresses around Parkhurst and Gracemere, and household storage through the constant movement of a service-town population.

We would rather say that plainly than sell you a low headline price and let you discover the rest at quoting time. The two figures are quoted together, up front, and if the total does not stack up for you then it does not stack up and you have lost nothing but a phone call.
This is the single biggest lever you have on a long-haul delivery. A container going north on a truck that is already heading that way costs materially less than a dedicated run, and on the Bruce Highway corridor there is a steady flow of freight moving.
If your date is flexible by a week, say so at the enquiry — it often changes the number meaningfully. If it is fixed, say that too, because then we quote a dedicated run and you get an accurate figure rather than an optimistic one that slips.
On a long run the freight is largely a function of the vehicle and the distance rather than what is on the back, which slightly changes the usual advice. If you are on the fence between a 20ft and a 40ft and you have the room, the 40ft is often the better economics on this corridor, because you are paying the long haul either way.
The reverse also applies. Two separate 20ft deliveries six months apart means paying the Rockhampton run twice. If you know you will want more space later, it is worth pricing it now.
Delivery around Rockhampton itself is generally simple — flat country, wide industrial entries, and rural blocks with plenty of room to line a truck up. Two things are worth flagging. The older parts of town, particularly the streets around the CBD and the high-set houses on the north side, are narrow-fronted with mature trees and low services, and behave like a city delivery. And the ground west of town takes a very long time to dry after the wet: black soil that carried a road train in September will not carry a rigid truck in February. If your placement spot is off the hardstand and it has rained, a week's patience is much cheaper than a recovery.

Because it genuinely moves. A backloaded run and a dedicated truck to the same address are very different numbers, and so are a hardstand delivery in Gracemere and a soft paddock 80 km west of it after rain. Publishing one figure would mean either overcharging most people or under-quoting and adding to it later. We do neither.
Typically five to ten business days, and it depends on freight movements as much as on stock. If you can be flexible on the date it is usually quicker and cheaper; if the date is fixed we will quote a dedicated run so the figure holds.
