Comparing shipping container value per cubic metre
Divide each current delivered quote by the usable volume to compare your options. Then check access and how much of that space you will actually use.
Compare usable space, not just the outside length.
Ask for delivered quotes for the same grade of container. Divide each complete quote by its usable internal volume to compare the cost per cubic metre. Keep GST treatment consistent between the quotes.

Count the space you can actually use.
A full container is not necessarily a useful store. Allow for shelves, access aisles, bulky items and room to lift or move them safely. If you regularly need items at the back, packing every cubic metre can make daily use difficult.
Include delivery in the comparison.
A larger unit may need a different truck, more room to unload or additional site preparation. Compare the complete job before deciding that a larger container is better value. A unit the truck cannot place is not a workable option.
Keep condition consistent.
Compare cargo-worthy with cargo-worthy or new with new. As-is containers are sold with disclosed faults and are not sold watertight. A lower quote for a different grade is not an equivalent storage option.
